Apple Picking Update : It’s a Go….
There are still LOTS and LOTS of apples to pick here. Especially Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Spartan and Empire apples. Come on out and pick your own!
There are also still some Cortland (hard to imagine when they are so popular), Fuji (smaller ones , but they are there) and Ida Red apples (big shiny pretty looking fruit). You can still find the odd Northern Spy apple hiding out under the tree canopy in our Spy block. There are still a few Pink Lady apples out there, but very sparse and way high up in the tree- hard to reach without a ladder. We are always surprised when people come back from picking in the orchard and have a bag mixed full of Mutsus and Royal Galas- we thought they were all gone after Thanksgiving weekend. Its a bit of a treasure hunt for certain types of apples. Some people are done picking in 15 minutes and good to go with a nice bag of medium sized apples. Others spend much more time and look around hard for the great big sized fruit that are lurking way out back of our 50 acre farm and come back with Jumbo sized apples… To each his own!
- We are now open for picking every day except Mondays
- There are lots of Pumpkins to pick too
- Please no dogs allowed
- Please do not bring outside food here to consume, unless it does not come in a package, wrapper, or throw away container. Its the extra garbage we do not want. Eating is a necessity – we all eat. Littering is not cool or appreciated… Thanks!
- No charge for admission, just buy a bag for picking and you’re in! Apple bags are $25 for 10lb sized bags, ( 3 person entry) and $45 for 20 lb bags (5 person entry)
- No refunds for PYO activity. Please be advised it is now getting later in the season and the selection will be not as abundant as previous, but nobody is coming out with empty bags anytime soon. There are still lots of apples for picking…..
